Civica takes charity to heart
Latest fundraising programme sees more than £13K raised for Action for Children in 2017
Civica UK, a market leader in business critical software applications, digital solutions and outsourcing services, is delighted to have raised thousands of pounds for charity Action for Children in 2017, as part of its wider charitable activity under the Civica Foundation.
Via a huge range of fundraising activities held by employees across its UK offices, Civica has raised these much-needed funds (currently more than £13K) to go towards helping vulnerable young people across the UK.
This year’s charity initiatives were a true team effort, ranging from the ever-popular cake sale through to sponsored ‘Wear your pyjamas to work day’.
In September, a dozen or so brave employees decided to abseil off the Spectrum Building in Bristol, home to Civica’s south-west hub, an event described as ‘terrifying yet exhilarating’ by one employee. The company also hosted its annual Tour De Civica event, which involved a large number of employees taking part in sponsored walks, runs and cycle adventures around the country.
The money raising continued with two teams sleeping out this October in Manchester and Bristol for Byte Night, Action for Children's national ‘sleep-out’ event and its biggest annual fundraiser. Each year, hundreds of like-minded people from the technology and business arena give up their beds for one night to help change the lives of vulnerable young people – in 2017 they raised over £1m in the process.
As Civica’s Product Strategy Director Tony Hughes, who also co-chairs Byte Night, explained: “This was my third Byte Night and the camaraderie you feel taking part is very special. It was a fun yet challenging night: the difference is we could return to warm homes, full fridges and cosy beds in the morning while, for many children and young people living in UK, this simply isn't the case.”
Civica would like to truly thank everyone who has taken part in these amazing charity events and all of our generous sponsors. There’s still time to donate too: simply visit our JustGiving page for details.
