Dept for Education SA pilot schools successfully live on Civica cloud Schools management solution

22nd August 2019

Full rollout to commence in 2020

Civica, a global leader in cloud software for public services, is pleased to announce that the six month pilot phase of the Department for Education South Australia EMS (Education Management Solution) project has been successfully delivered. This gives Civica the green light to progress from 2020 with a state-wide incremental roll out to over 900 sites.  The EMS will streamline administration and transform teaching as part of the Department’s vision to build a world-class education for the State.

The project, previously announced in 2018, is a ten year contract worth $82 million and will service a community of around 185,000 students and 30,000 teachers and schools administrators. It aims to deliver against the Department’s key outcomes, which include improved learning and care, improved analytics and reporting, improved tools to support management of sites, and consistency in systems across sites to improve reliability, support, resourcing and training.

The Department’s new EMS is a modern cloud based, secure, student-centred system built on a Civica platform and integrating with technology partners for reporting, learning management and communications. It will provide learning management, financial and administrative management, and reporting systems and processes to schools and preschools across metropolitan and regional South Australia.

Simon Jones, Managing Director Library & Education solutions says he is pleased with the outcome of the pilot, which saw Civica and Department staff working closely together with a shared vision of completing a complex project on time and on budget.  He says: “This has been a very successful implementation which included a brand new infrastructure, integrating three key technology partners, data migration, and training.

“Our teams worked tirelessly in close collaboration and I’d like to congratulate all for their work. I look forward to a successful rollout that sees the Department for Education South Australia leading the way in education innovation.”
