Rob Whiteman

Rob is a well-known commentator on public service finances and reform, and CEO of CIPFA, a leading global voice for strong public financial management and governance. Rob will open Civica Exchange looking at the impact of austerity and the changing landscape for public service provision as we start 2019.  He will look at the challenges ahead; policy, structures and technologies.  Can we embrace national change with a strong local focus to protect and improve services within our communities?

Professor Jim Al-Khalili OBE

Jim is a Scientist, author and broadcaster. He is professor of Theoretical Physics at the University of Surrey, where he also holds a chair in the Public Engagement in Science. Jim will explain how technology can be embraced at a local level to deliver sustainable public services against a challenging political and economic backdrop.
