Devon County Council chooses Civica cloud software to improve regulatory services

Devon County Council has awarded a new four-year contract to Civica, a global leader in software for public services, for its latest trading standards cloud software.

As part of Civica’s cloud Cx Regulatory Services digital platform, Cx Trading Standards will support the Council’s mobile working agenda and simplify statutory returns.

The new cloud software will help the Council achieve its wider digital transformation programme; supporting its Trading Standards Service, which operates on behalf of Devon, Somerset and Torbay, to work in smarter ways and using digital innovation to improve the lives of its businesses and residents.

Facilitating an improved use of in-depth data insight and analytics, the team will be able to make informed decisions, consistently and accurately, helping to protect consumers and safeguard businesses.

It is also planned, at a future date, for the Council to implement Civica’s Cx Citizen Portal to provide online self-service for all trading standards licences. The portal will provide an integrated online platform for businesses and residents to apply and manage petroleum and explosive licenses and business advice online anytime, anywhere using a connected device.

All submitted information is sent directly to Civica Cx, driving paperless working, improving employees and customer user experience while delivering significant time and cost savings.

Using Cx Trading Standards, Devon Somerset & Torbay Trading Standards Service will be able to streamline and prioritise service delivery to increase efficiency. By mobilising the Trading Standards team, Civica Cx will increase service responsiveness and significantly reduce administration.

Emily Douglin, Managing Director, Civica Regulatory Services said: “As a long-standing partner of Devon County Council, we understand the need to modernise licensing systems to support the Council’s forward-thinking digital strategy. Cx Trading Standards and the connected citizen portal will enable regulatory services to collect, manage and share information more efficiently, improve services and increase engagement from local businesses.”

Civica provides regulatory services software for more than 200 public sector organisations across the UK. This continues strong momentum for Civica with its Cx digital platform, with other recent contract awards with Peterborough City Council, Rugby Borough Council, Durham County Council and Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council.
